About

André Rosinha (Sintra, 1987) is a jazz double bass player who has released five albums under his name.

Pórtico” is the title of his first album as band leader, on which he performs his own compositions alongside musicians João Barradas (accordion), Albert Cirera (saxophone), Eduardo Cardinho (vibraphone) and Bruno Pedroso (drums), having performed at venues such as Casa da Música in Porto and the Círculo de Jazz in Setúbal. On his second album, “Árvore” (2019), André Rosinha adopted the format that has accompanied him ever since: a trio with João Paulo Esteves da Silva on piano and Marcos Cavaleiro on drums, with whom he also released the albums “Triskel” (2022) and “Raiz” (2025), and in which we find a fusion of the worlds of jazz, traditional Portuguese music and improvisation. The André Rosinha Trio has performed at the Belém Cultural Centre, Jazz2020 organised by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Seixal Jazz, Jazz em Monserrate, JazzMATAzz, Grândola Vila Jazz, and Festa do Avante!, amongst others.

In 2021, he formed a co-led trio with Beatriz Nunes on vocals and pianist Paula Sousa, with whom he released the album “À Espera do Futuro” and also “A Céu Aberto” in 2025, presented at the Serralves Autumn Festival (Porto), Jazz Tem Voz (Lisbon), the Tavira Jazz Cycle, Novoměstská Radnice in Prague (Czech Republic), the Opus Jazz Club in Budapest (Hungary) and the Nikolaisaal in Potsdam (Germany), amongst others.

After more than 15 years exploring music and jazz, always accompanied by other musicians on stage and in the studio, André Rosinha released his first solo album, “Ermo”, in 2026.

Alongside his own projects, he has been a member of singer Salvador Sobral’s band since 2015, with whom he has recorded six albums, and is also a member of pianist Júlio Resende’s group, João Barradas Trio, Samuel Lercher Trio, Desidério Lázaro Trio and Marco Santos 6tet.

He has performed at numerous international jazz festivals, notably Funchal Jazz and Seixal Jazz (Portugal), Jazzaldia, Festival Noches del Botánico and Cadiz Jazz Festival (Spain), Festival Au Fil des Voix (France), Reset Jazz Festival (Luxembourg), Jazzfestival Münster and Jazzahead (Germany), Sopot Jazz Festival (Poland), Jazzkar (Estonia), Kaunas Jazz (Lithuania), Festival de Jazz de Montevideo (Uruguay) and Cairo Jazz Fest (Egypt).
